They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.

How the USA PATRIOT Act redefines ”Domestic Terrorism”

”Section 802 of the USA PATRIOT Act expanded the definition of terrorism to cover domestic, as opposed to international terrorism. A person engages in domestic terrorism if they do an act ”dangerous to human life” that is a violation of the criminal laws of a state or the United States, if the act appears to be intended to: (I) intimidate or coerce a civilian population; (II) influence the policy of a government by intimidation or coercion; or (III) to affect the conduct of a government by mass destruction, assassination or kidnapping.”

The definition of domestic terrorism is broad enough to encompass the activities of several prominent activist campaigns and organizations. Greenpeace, Operation Rescue, Vieques Island and WTO protesters and the Environmental Liberation Front have all recently engaged in activities that could subject them to being investigated as engaging in domestic terrorism.”

Nästa grundlagsvidriga övertramp i ”kriget mot terrorismen” var total avlyssning av varenda medborgare i USA utförd av NSA.

Federal Judge Finds N.S.A. Wiretaps Were Illegal

”WASHINGTON — A federal judge ruled Wednesday that the National Security Agency’s program of surveillance without warrants was illegal, rejecting the Obama administration’s effort to keep shrouded in secrecy one of the most disputed counterterrorism policies of former President George W. Bush.”

”The ruling delivered a blow to the Bush administration’s claims that its surveillance program, which Mr. Bush secretly authorized shortly after the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, was lawful. Under the program, the National Security Agency monitored Americans’ international e-mail messages and phone calls without court approval, even though the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, or FISA, required warrants.”

Vita Huset har dom senaste åren börjat klassa politiska motståndare, konspirationsteoretiker och laglydiga medborgare i allmänhet som terrorister.

’Fusion Centers’ Expand Criteria to Identify Militia Members

If you’re an anti-abortion activist, or if you display political paraphernalia supporting a third-party candidate or a certain Republican member of Congress, if you possess subversive literature, you very well might be a member of a domestic paramilitary group.

That’s according to ”The Modern Militia Movement,” a report by the Missouri Information Analysis Center (MIAC), a government collective that identifies the warning signs of potential domestic terrorists for law enforcement communities.”

”MIAC is one of 58 so-called ”fusion centers” nationwide that were created by the Department of Homeland Security, in part, to collect local intelligence that authorities can use to combat terrorism and related criminal activities.

”But some say the fusion centers are going too far in whom they identify as potential threats to American security. People who supported former third-party presidential candidates like Texas Rep. Ron Paul, Chuck Baldwin and former Georgia Rep. Bob Barr are cited in the report, in addition to anti-abortion activists and conspiracy theorists who believe the United States, Mexico and Canada will someday form a North American Union.
