Apparently there are a lot of theories circulating about this disease.

I have this disease and am very familiar with it.

I have examined these extracted fibers for years.

I can tell you my theory is very reasonable as to who caused this problem.
Its not lyme disease.

It has to do with the Textile industry. Although these fibers are non textile in origin.

They are comprised of cellulose, they are highly genetically modified fibers. They have genetically manipulated e-coli bacteria, nemotodes, chemicals, proteins and plant DNA and have developed ways to incorporate large amounts of these "high performance" bio active fibers into clothing and genetically modified the cotton plant many times over.

This research done at a handful of Universities then sold the technology to textile manufacturers here and abroad. These textiles can then be sold back to the United States from countries like China etc.

What you will read in this article is shocking to know what they were doing in the textile business. This was all done by consent of the Government via the National Textile Center, part of the United States Department of Agriculture.

Between morgellons and what you will read in reference material you notice the following:

Both fibers from morgellons and from the agricultural labs have striking simalarities.

Both fibers are comprised of cellulose.

Both fibers have a helical coil type tendencies, this is a genetically modified trait that they admit to.

Both fibers autoflouresce as can easily be seen on both the morgellons site and on picture box #2 from the usda referrence image given. The autoflourescence is a genetically modified trait as well and can be seen in several colors.

This is due to genetically altered e-coli bacteria with flourescent componets spliced from nemotodes and other creatures that autoflouresce.
You read how GFP, (green flourescent protiens) were genetically spliced to accomplish this. As well as other autoflourescent colors.

The usda referrence article states clearly the fuzz ball growth problems in engineering as well as their lack of understanding how these fibers stop growing at certain lengths.

My theory is that this is a bio engineering mistake that has gone wrong and the full impact was not realized before sold to textile manufacturers.

These people had no idea what they were creating in these labs and the impact of those consequences on the public.

In my reading from the documents from the University of Dartmouth I found absolutly no trial testing of these fabrics on humans. The goal seemed to be to obtain funding, develope technology and then provide this technology to manufacturers.

I theorize the mode of transmission is via micro abrasion of clothing articles, particularly cotton to innoculate these bio active fibers into the body or via protien and oil digestive bacteria that were altered to perform that function, yet may be able to use this protien and oil breakdown to gain access passed the defences of the skin.

In my case I have noticed the majority of lesions are concentrated around the stitching on the inside of the fabrics like cotton t-shirts where the pieces are sewn together, that rope-like stitching. Also on clothing "wear points" like the shoulder blades and shoulders.

That is how I noticed the abrasion effect and the resulting innoculation of these fibers. Yet these lesions are not limited to the stitching ropes as sitting back in a chair can abrade these into the skin without you feeling it. Tight fitting levis do the same thing to the outer thighs.

Since they have admitted engineering lysine deficient e-coli bacteria for the purpose of controlling its growth once embedded in textiles and clothing this does not stop these bacteria/fibers from taking advantage of a non-stop supply of lysine in the human body if innoculated by abrasion or protien breakdown. Lysine is an essential amino acid of the body.

Here is just one shocking quote you will read:

"Clothing materials are generally biofriendly and sources of heat, moisture and even NUTRIENTS for cellular microdevices and all ARE AVAILABLE FROM THE HUMAN BODY".

"Our goal is to develope fabrics that contain micro fabricated bio environments and biologically activated fibers"

I can go on and on with this. It will shock you no doubt.

The cause of Morgellons

I believe that the cause of Morgellons is not being found because no one is looking
for the right causative agent. It is a case of not seeing the forest for the trees.
However the cause it actually right there, easily visible but ignored since it does
not conform to normal causes of diseases, much like it took a long time for prions to
be accepted as the causative agent for BSE (mad cow).

But first the facts:

1. Some years ago Monsanto begun experimenting with genetically modifying cotton. The
primary modification was the addition of a gene which produces Bt toxin. This gene
was obtained from a bacteria called bacillus thuringiensis.
2. Despite the fact that Monsanto has assured everyone that Bt toxin is not toxic to
mammals, 1800 sheep recently died when they ate cotton plants which had this toxin in

3. Plants will grow easily in any medium that provides nutrients. This is used for
cloning plants, where a few cells are put in a nutrient and they will begin growing.
5. Cotton produces cellulose fibers, and black seeds.
4. Bt toxin when applied to the skin will cause death of the cells, and an ulcer to
form.
5. When an ulcer forms, there are many nutrients available for a plant to use to grow.

Symptoms

1. An ucler forms, likely from Bt toxin.
2. Fibers grow, characteristic of cotton.
3. Fibers have been identified as being identical to cotton fibers.
4. Seeds, similar to black cotton seeds often form, but are smaller than normal due to
the bizzare environment and lack of pollination and possibly other genetic
modifications.

Verification

1. Verify that the fibers are cellulose, and essentially cotton (already done).
2. Verify that seeds similar to small cotton seeds develop (already done)
3. Test for the Bt toxin in the fibers and ulcers formed.
4. Use DNA and verify that these fibers ARE cotton. Compare DNA with the DNA from
standard cotton and there should be some genetic differences, primarily a gene that
codes for Bt, although Monsanto could have made other DNA changes, such as putting in
a "terminator" gene to prevent fertile seeds from forming. (Monsanto has been
developing the terminator gene through its acquisition of cotton seed breeder Delta
and Pine Land Co!)
5. Test the DNA of the fibers against fibers from Bt cotton to verify a similar or
same genetics.

I hope this assists in finding something that will kill these things.

Mass Deaths in Sheep Grazing on Bt Cotton
At least 1 800 sheep reported dead from severe toxicity after grazing on Bt cotton fields in just four villages in Andhra Pradesh India

The Bt trail of dead sheep, ill workers and dead villagers over three years
At least 1 820 sheep were reported dead after grazing on post-harvest Bt cotton crops; the symptoms and post-mortem findings strongly suggest they died from severe toxicity. This was uncovered in a preliminary investigation conducted by civil society organisations in just four villages in the Warangal district of Andhra Pradesh in India. The actual problem is likely to be much greater.

This latest report confirms the findings of an earlier fact-finding investigation, also conducted by civil society organisations, on illnesses in cotton farm workers and handlers caused by Bt cotton in another cotton-growing state, Madhya Pradesh, in India (“More illnesses linked to Bt crops”, this series).

And not so long ago, we reported similar illnesses and deaths among villagers in the Philippines linked to exposure to Bt maize since 2003 (“GM ban long overdue, dozens ill and five deaths in the Philippines”, SiS 29).

It cannot be mere coincidence that similar Bt toxins from the soil bacterium Bacillus thuringiensis incorporated in the genetically modified crops are involved in all these cases; but the regulators have done nothing. Things are so bad that the European Commission levelled an accusation of bias towards the biotech industry against its own food safety regulatory body (“European Food Safety Authority criticised of GMO bias”, this series).

Grazing lands decline as commercial crops increase
Grazing lands in Warangal district have declined steeply as commercial crop cultivation expanded in recent years, and it has become customary for sheep and goats to be allowed to graze on crop residues after harvest.

This year, there have been several media reports of sharp increases in the deaths of sheep and goats after grazing in Bt cotton fields. There were similar reports in 2005, when complaints were lodged with the Joint Director of Agriculture by a few NGOs, but no action has resulted.

Between February and March 2006, the shepherds of Warangal district again reported high mortality in their flocks after grazing in harvested Bt cotton fields. Some shepherds reported to the animal husbandry department and requested confirmation on whether the deaths were due to grazing on Bt cotton.

Still getting no response, a fact-finding team of five members was constituted by the Andhra Pradesh Shepherds Union: two members from Anthra (NGO working on livestock issues), veterinary scientist Dr. Ramesh and a field researcher Mr. Apparoa; Mr. Jamalaiah, Secretary of the Andhra Pradesh Shepherds Union; and two scientists from the Centre for Sustainable Agriculture working on Bt cotton issues, Mr. S. Ramprasa and Mr. G. Rajashekar.

The team travelled through three mandals in Warangal district on 22 April 2006 and met with shepherds and farmers. The villages visited were Ippagudem in Ghanapur mandal, Valeru and Unkkucherla in Dharmasagaram mandal, and Maadpalli in Hasanparthi mandal.

Twenty-five percent of sheep dead within five to seven days
The Ippagudem village in Ghanapur mandal has 100 households belonging to the shepherd community. Forty shepherds and ten farmers attended the group meeting when the team visited. They said the deaths began after their sheep grazed on Bt cotton leaves or bolls. This year was the first time some of the shepherds and farmers cultivated Bt cotton hybrids, believing in the propaganda that they can get more yield and profit. They started grazing from the end of January to March. The deaths began within a week of continuous grazing on the Bt cotton crop residues. Mr. J. Parmesh, one of the shepherds got diarrhoea after consuming the affected sheep's meat.

The shepherds said that the sheep became “dull/depressed” after 2-3 days of grazing, started coughing with nasal discharge and developed red lesions in the mouth, became bloated and suffered blackish diarrhoea, and sometimes passed red urine. Death occurred within 5-7 days of grazing. Sheep from young lambs to adults of 1.5-2 years were affected.

The shepherds took their sheep to the government veterinary hospital in Warangal for post-mortem, some shepherds also performed their own post-mortem, as is often the practice of shepherds across Andhra Pradesh. They found black patches in the intestine and enlarged bile duct and black patches on the liver. The shepherds said that the Assistant Director of Animal Health Centre in Warangal told them these deaths appeared to be due to grazing on Bt cotton fields, as she has earlier seen such cases. She prescribed some medicines for the sick sheep, but very few sheep responded, and most died.

Of the 2 601 sheep that belonged to 42 shepherds, 651 sheep died, giving an average mortality rate of 25 percent.

A shepherd in another village, Akkapalli reported that he had cultivated Bt cotton the previous year and allowed his sheep to graze, which resulted in deaths. This year, while he still cultivated Bt cotton, he did not allow them to graze on it, and his sheep did not die.

On the way to Dharmasagaram mandal, the team spoke to a shepherd Shri Kochla Malliah, who has 100 sheep, but 5 died after grazing on Bt cotton crop residues. He reported that sheep had also died in adjoining villages Molakagudam, Kunipatti and Kondaparthi

More deaths and identical symptoms in other villages
Twenty-nine shepherds participated in the meeting in Valeru village in Dharmasagaram mandel. Sheep deaths occurred during February – March 2006. The symptoms described were identical to those reported in the previous village.

Of 2168 sheep owned by the 29 shepherds, 549 sheep died, again giving an average mortality rate of about 25 percent.

In the remaining villages, it was not possible to have a group meeting with the shepherds. But the team was informed that the sheep population is nearly 1 000 in Unkkucherla village, Dharmasagaram mandal, and 150 adult sheep and 70 lambs died within 4 days of grazing on Bt cotton fields between February and March 2006. In Maadipalli village Asanparthi mandal, there are 20 households rearing some 3 000 sheep, and nearly 400 died due to grazing on Bt-cotton fields from the second week of February through to March.

They took their animals to the Warangal veterinary hospital for post-mortem. The Assistant Director at the Animal Health Centre who conducted the post-mortem advised them to stop grazing their sheep on the Bt cotton fields, saying the deaths could be due to the Bt cotton, and prescribed some medicines for the affected sheep.

The team met with the Assistant Director who conducted the post-mortems. When questioned, she replied that while it appeared that the deaths occurred after grazing on Bt cotton fields, and could be due to the effects of Bt toxin, it was not possible to arrive at a definitive conclusion, as farmers also spray different types of insecticides and pesticides on their crops, and this factor confounds the observations. She also said there were no kits or other facilities available within the Department to enable her to arrive at a firm diagnosis that the deaths were due to Bt cotton.

When asked to see the post-mortem results/reports, she said she was not permitted to show them to the team, as permission of the Joint Director was needed. But the Joint Director was not present that day.

Demands for in-depth investigation and moratorium on Bt cotton
The team concludes that “The preliminary information gathered from meeting shepherds across 3 mandals, strongly suggests that the sheep mortality was due to a toxin, and most likely Bt toxin from the foliage.” They were impressed that shepherds from villages located at 20-25 km distance from one another, reported an identical history of grazing on the Bt cotton fields continuously, identical symptoms and death within 5-7 days of grazing exclusively on Bt cotton plant residue, primarily on young leaves and pods. The post-mortem symptoms, as observed by the shepherds, suggest “severe irritation of the intestines and associated organs (bile duct, liver) connected to the absorption and assimilation of food and processing of toxins.”

The team is calling for more “in-depth exhaustive investigation on the impact of Bt toxin on the local Indian livestock”, and a “complete moratorium on Bt cotton cultivation until conclusive results show that the Bt toxin is completely harmless”. Furthermore, they call for the shepherds who suffered losses to be compensated.

What is not yet clear from the report is whether all the sheep that did not fall ill or die also grazed on Bt cotton; if not, then the mortality rate is even higher than reported.

Many participants here are aware of the emerging and so called "fiber or Morgellon's" disease.

But, I believe that it is neither. Instead, it is something much more than the sum of it's parts.

In the pursuit of answers, I have been led inexorably by the logic of research and observation to a destination that I would never have dreamed existed when I began this journey.

I myself, for three years, have fought a slowly losing battle against this disease's ravages.

In that time I have intensely studied it's methods and preferences.

Some months back, an accidental observation lead me in a new and alarming direction. It is this direction that I now take the reader.

I realize that what I have to say below is fraught with implications of danger.
If, as I suspect, the full truth of the matter were to out, the result would be large political, social, and economic destabilization and flux.

Be that as it may. The origin of this plague remains a mystery. The vector for it is becoming less of one. But as in all such things, a door once opened often leads to a hall of many more yet to be keyed.

My conclusions are backed with numerous physical samples and observational proofs. These are observations that can easily be made as well by the reader.

Rest assured, I assume only that I have discovered one of this creature's vectors. Albeit a vector that, in and of itself, is one that is curiously well suited enought that it would suffice to infect nearly every living human being on the planet within a space of a decade.

Many other vectors likely exist.

It is my hope that someday what I have found will enable someone else to discover the "WHY" of this curse, I believe that in the meantime, we are now about to open the door on the "HOW" it was that the fiber disease came to infect us.

FIBER DISEASE ALERT: COTTON: A CLEAR AND PRESENT DANGER!

There is an evil loose on the land. It is a creation of the darkest order and a monument to the foolishness of man.

It is here now, among us all.

As I type these words, and ... as you read them, this black evil shares and monitors the moment. It is uninvited, invisible and ubiquitous. Even now, it robs you and I. It steals the life force and fluids from your body giving in return nothing but despair, depression, chronic fatigue, and a broken immune defense system.

Welcome to the world of the Fiber Disease.

Some know it as Morgellons, but it is NOT the classic Morgellons disease of another time and place. (That affliction is one so mistakenly addressed at other sites.)

This is a new and more terrible curse.

Do not be so foolish as to think that you have escaped. You and the ones you love are even now at risk.

For...

In the indigo mind of it's creator, the knowledge that, though completely submerged, even a drowning man must eventually gasp for air, has been advantaged. This "stroke of black genius" has sealed yours and my fate, and has guaranteed that we will drown, submersed in a flood of unseen affliction.

It is the proverbial worm in the apple, but this time, it is even more insidious.

Say hello to the worm in the cotton.

Now comes the Devil:

Cotton is our companion from the cradle to the grave. It is ubiquitous in the lives of nearly every human on the planet. There is no escape from cotton.

To infect the world's cotton supply with a parasitic simbiote worm/pathogen nexus would provide a vector matrix of unparalleled efficiency and invisibility.

From Q-tips to Kotex, T-shirts to Vitamin bottles, the flesh eating worm has proliferated.

It is a complex organism that often works in conjunction with a variety of pathogens such as Lyme disease.

It is opportunistic and often uses the body's own defenses against itself.

It is a shape-shifter and mimics body fluids and skin. It can mask it's own signature in ways that confound the most astute laboratory technicians.

And so it is that this organism functions on a variety of levels as well as in a variety of mediums.

Yet, there comes a stage, when,(once securely entrenched in it's victim)it becomes blatant in it's own arrogance.

It appears that the organism uses the body's own mucus defense system to encase itself and thereby gain carte blanche.

That function serves a variety of additional purposes, including secondary external vectoring.

In more than one stage of it's metamorphosis, it is extant not only in the olfactory, auditory and digestive and lower tract systems, but also in the blood.

Several of it's half dozen or so stages are advertised by the production of "fibers." These come in a wealth of varieties. The larger "hair-like" fibers, (generally black or dark brown in color) are a product that is generated by something smaller that appears to be accessing and creating lesions from within the body.

These larger fibers also will often invade a normal hair follicle and sometimes can be seen growing side by side with the regular hair. They then replace the normal hair by killing it.

The incredible speed with which these "hair fibers" can grow is a wonder to behold. However, it appears that vigilant removal will eventually allow any lesion or wound to heal. Otherwise the healing process remains blocked and the lesion or wound will remain open for months on end.

The smaller red, blue, green, and purple, fibers are also ubiquitous. They can be found in all locations. Besides in body fluids, I have trapped them outside in sticky traps and found them in some kinds of spider webs. They infest dusty corners of all locations and are easy to spot with a 10 or 20 power jewelers loop.

The micro hair-like snake, "Cotton" worm form is somewhat rarer. It is found both in the body and in it's vector of choice, Cotton.

It is also (for the most part) the only overtly active, (moving) fiber. It can be seen to undulate and twist like a snake when held in a pair of tweezers. It is heat sensitive and will often turn toward a finger or flesh held near to it.

If you want to know what it looks like and how it behaves, (and if you want to give yourself one HELL of a good scare) take a half dozen swabs or Q-tips and take a few minuets to watch the stranded filaments extruding from the Q-tip. Use a good magnifying glass. Hence, you will discover the 4th manifestation of this plague.

ADDITIONAL NOTE AND REEMPHASIS ON STAGE FOUR COTTON FIBER MIMIC:

The "fiber" parasite, besides being a simbiote and/or an opportunist in conjunction with microbiological pathogens, exhibits 3 or even 4 different stages of metamorphosis. One of the most active of these is in the form of a thin white or nearly clear micro fiber. I am not talking about the red, blue or black micro fibers, or the larger hair like fibers, but a long thin strand like fiber that looks exactly like a single strand of cotton fiber. The only difference is that this fiber is alive. When stimulated, It moves, twists and undulates in a manner that reminds one of a hooded cobra. Many times it needs no external stimulation at all. It lives both in the body of warm blooded and cold blooded animals, as well as being found in it's vector of choice, cotton.

If you have a 10 or 20 power jewelers loop, and are so inclined, I would like to ask my readers to examine a dozen or so swabs or Q-tips, or cosmetic cotton balls.

Concentrate on watching the filaments that are sticking out randomly from the rest of the wound cotton. Give each one a min. or two of examination. Let us know if you see anything that appears to be acting in a rather "uncommon" cotton fiber manner.

Place the cotton beneath a jar if air movements are a problem.

Not all cotton appears to be infected, but much of it is. Of the last 5 boxes of Q-tips I bought and examined, 4 of them were full of these parasites.

On some of the individual swabs I found as many as 3 or 4 parasites.

I believe that another way these things are being vectored is in cotton socks and underwear that has not been sufficently sterilized during manufacture.

Sufficent sterilization may be a challenge. These organisms are highly resistant to both heat and cold. There are few household chemicals that affect them. I have seen them swimming in rubbing alcohol before! I usually dispatch them with either lacquer thinner or ammonia. Even then they can appear to function briefly while fully submerged in a vial of acetone or other thinners.

They are tough customers!

Interestingly enough, They can swim in petrol but they seem to have a violent and negative reaction to high salt concentrations. Sweat is a constant source of activation for the organisim. Any physical activity will usually bring many to the suface of the skin. It also apparently stimulates production of the hard black "pepperlike" pods.

They are also not fond of amonnia. It not only kills them, but prior to being terminated, it tends to irritate them to no end.

One final note. The initial sign of infection is usually a rash that itches intensely. This rash will bleed at once when scratched. It can last from a few days to a few weeks. Nothing will seem to remedy it. It is often mistaken for scabies or poison oak. No known medicine will soothe it. It will then suddenly disappear as quickly as it appeared. Upon occasion the rash may return briefly for a period usually shorter than the initial rash. This can happen any time within a year of the first outbreak.

Following the rash, a period of incubation occurs in the body of the host. This can take anywhere from 3 months to up to 3 years. Then, the worm emerges and the production of fibers begins. The worm lives on body fluids such as blood and spinal fluids. Chronic fatigue, open lesions and depression, and an impaired immune system leading to other complications, (in the same manner as AIDS works as a facilitator) are some of the higher visibility manifestations in this progressive state of the disease.

Rest assured, I assume only that I have discovered one of this creature's vectors. Albeit a vector that, in and of itself, is one that is curiously well suited enought that it would suffice to infect nearly every living human being on the planet within a space of a decade.

Many other vectors likely exist.

It is my hope that someday what I have found will enable someone else to discover the "WHY" of this curse, I believe that in the meantime, we are now about to open the door on the "HOW" it was that the fiber disease came to infect us.

FIBER DISEASE ALERT: COTTON: A CLEAR AND PRESENT DANGER!

There is an evil loose on the land. It is a creation of the darkest order and a monument to the foolishness of man.

It is here now, among us all.

As I type these words, and ... as you read them, this black evil shares and monitors the moment. It is uninvited, invisible and ubiquitous. Even now, it robs you and I. It steals the life force and fluids from your body giving in return nothing but despair, depression, chronic fatigue, and a broken immune defense system.

Welcome to the world of the Fiber Disease.

Some know it as Morgellons, but it is NOT the classic Morgellons disease of another time and place. (That affliction is one so mistakenly addressed at other sites.)

This is a new and more terrible curse.

Do not be so foolish as to think that you have escaped. You and the ones you love are even now at risk.

For...

In the indigo mind of it's creator, the knowledge that, though completely submerged, even a drowning man must eventually gasp for air, has been advantaged. This "stroke of black genius" has sealed yours and my fate, and has guaranteed that we will drown, submersed in a flood of unseen affliction.

It is the proverbial worm in the apple, but this time, it is even more insidious.

Say hello to the worm in the cotton.

Now comes the Devil:

Cotton is our companion from the cradle to the grave. It is ubiquitous in the lives of nearly every human on the planet. There is no escape from cotton.

To infect the world's cotton supply with a parasitic simbiote worm/pathogen nexus would provide a vector matrix of unparalleled efficiency and invisibility.

From Q-tips to Kotex, T-shirts to Vitamin bottles, the flesh eating worm has proliferated.

It is a complex organism that often works in conjunction with a variety of pathogens such as Lyme disease.

It is opportunistic and often uses the body's own defenses against itself.

It is a shape-shifter and mimics body fluids and skin. It can mask it's own signature in ways that confound the most astute laboratory technicians.

And so it is that this organism functions on a variety of levels as well as in a variety of mediums.

Yet, there comes a stage, when,(once securely entrenched in it's victim)it becomes blatant in it's own arrogance.

It appears that the organism uses the body's own mucus defense system to encase itself and thereby gain carte blanche.

That function serves a variety of additional purposes, including secondary external vectoring.

In more than one stage of it's metamorphosis, it is extant not only in the olfactory, auditory and digestive and lower tract systems, but also in the blood.

Several of it's half dozen or so stages are advertised by the production of "fibers." These come in a wealth of varieties. The larger "hair-like" fibers, (generally black or dark brown in color) are a product that is generated by something smaller that appears to be accessing and creating lesions from within the body.

These larger fibers also will often invade a normal hair follicle and sometimes can be seen growing side by side with the regular hair. They then replace the normal hair by killing it.

The incredible speed with which these "hair fibers" can grow is a wonder to behold. However, it appears that vigilant removal will eventually allow any lesion or wound to heal. Otherwise the healing process remains blocked and the lesion or wound will remain open for months on end.

The smaller red, blue, green, and purple, fibers are also ubiquitous. They can be found in all locations. Besides in body fluids, I have trapped them outside in sticky traps and found them in some kinds of spider webs. They infest dusty corners of all locations and are easy to spot with a 10 or 20 power jewelers loop.

The micro hair-like snake, "Cotton" worm form is somewhat rarer. It is found both in the body and in it's vector of choice, Cotton.

It is also (for the most part) the only overtly active, (moving) fiber. It can be seen to undulate and twist like a snake when held in a pair of tweezers. It is heat sensitive and will often turn toward a finger or flesh held near to it.

If you want to know what it looks like and how it behaves, (and if you want to give yourself one HELL of a good scare) take a half dozen swabs or Q-tips and take a few minuets to watch the stranded filaments extruding from the Q-tip. Use a good magnifying glass. Hence, you will discover the 4th manifestation of this plague.

ADDITIONAL NOTE AND REEMPHASIS ON STAGE FOUR COTTON FIBER MIMIC:

The "fiber" parasite, besides being a simbiote and/or an opportunist in conjunction with microbiological pathogens, exhibits 3 or even 4 different stages of metamorphosis. One of the most active of these is in the form of a thin white or nearly clear micro fiber. I am not talking about the red, blue or black micro fibers, or the larger hair like fibers, but a long thin strand like fiber that looks exactly like a single strand of cotton fiber. The only difference is that this fiber is alive. When stimulated, It moves, twists and undulates in a manner that reminds one of a hooded cobra. Many times it needs no external stimulation at all. It lives both in the body of warm blooded and cold blooded animals, as well as being found in it's vector of choice, cotton.

If you have a 10 or 20 power jewelers loop, and are so inclined, I would like to ask my readers to examine a dozen or so swabs or Q-tips, or cosmetic cotton balls.

Concentrate on watching the filaments that are sticking out randomly from the rest of the wound cotton. Give each one a min. or two of examination. Let us know if you see anything that appears to be acting in a rather "uncommon" cotton fiber manner.

Place the cotton beneath a jar if air movements are a problem.

Not all cotton appears to be infected, but much of it is. Of the last 5 boxes of Q-tips I bought and examined, 4 of them were full of these parasites.

On some of the individual swabs I found as many as 3 or 4 parasites.

I believe that another way these things are being vectored is in cotton socks and underwear that has not been sufficently sterilized during manufacture.

Sufficent sterilization may be a challenge. These organisms are highly resistant to both heat and cold. There are few household chemicals that affect them. I have seen them swimming in rubbing alcohol before! I usually dispatch them with either lacquer thinner or ammonia. Even then they can appear to function briefly while fully submerged in a vial of acetone or other thinners.

They are tough customers!

Interestingly enough, They can swim in petrol but they seem to have a violent and negative reaction to high salt concentrations. Sweat is a constant source of activation for the organisim. Any physical activity will usually bring many to the suface of the skin. It also apparently stimulates production of the hard black "pepperlike" pods.

They are also not fond of amonnia. It not only kills them, but prior to being terminated, it tends to irritate them to no end.

One final note. The initial sign of infection is usually a rash that itches intensely. This rash will bleed at once when scratched. It can last from a few days to a few weeks. Nothing will seem to remedy it. It is often mistaken for scabies or poison oak. No known medicine will soothe it. It will then suddenly disappear as quickly as it appeared. Upon occasion the rash may return briefly for a period usually shorter than the initial rash. This can happen any time within a year of the first outbreak.

Following the rash, a period of incubation occurs in the body of the host. This can take anywhere from 3 months to up to 3 years. Then, the worm emerges and the production of fibers begins. The worm lives on body fluids such as blood and spinal fluids. Chronic fatigue, open lesions and depression, and an impaired immune system leading to other complications, (in the same manner as AIDS works as a facilitator) are some of the higher visibility manifestations in this progressive state of the disease.
