A solar deity is a deity that represents, personifies, anthropomorphizes the Sun. People have worshipped &/or appreciated the Sun and solar deities far beyond recorded history. Hence, many legends, myths & beliefs have been formed around this. Ancient peoples were very attentive to seasons and the Sun's position in the sky, because their livelihood depended on planting and harvesting at the proper times for survival.

Solar Mythology explains how many of the stories found in the Bible, including the Jesus Story (also Khrishna, Horus, Orpheus, Bacchus, Osiris, Dionysus, Buddha, Apollo, Hercules, Adonis, Ormuzd, Mithras, Indra, Quetzalcoatle & more) originated as allegories for natural phenomena, such as the Sun's annual circular journey along the ecliptic through the twelve constellations of the Zodiac and the corresponding passage of the seasons of the year."
