Hello and welcome. Tonight we’ll look back upon the incredible events of 9/11 2001, images that shocked a whole world. 2,986 people were killed, in New York and in two other locations in the US. But who were behind the attacks? The Truth Movement questions the official theory about the terror network al-Qaeda. Instead they claim that the US government staged the attacks to justify president Bush’s war against terrorism. With the documentary Loose Change, this theory is spreading rapidly on the Internet, gathering more and more supporters, and it has also reached Sweden. This shows in our opinion poll. More than a third of the young Swedes under 30 have seen Loose Change or other documentaries and they support their message. 18% of the population under 30 believe the American government was involved. This equals 300,000 people. But is there any truth to this or is it just a mad conspiracy theory? Kalla fakta’s Jonas Berg and Aleksandar Vujanovic have investigated the movement.

The official theory has been profoundly analyzed and found incorrect. It is fabricated. It contains lies and errors.

It’s 4 pm on September 10 of this year. We are behind a residential area in Bagarmossen outside of Stockholm. Members from the network Vaken.se are getting ready for September 11. They’re spreading the message that 9/11 was an inside job.

Vaken.se! We’re handing out information, which is often censored by the media, like about 9/11.

Medborgarplatsen in Stockholm. Many stop to listen to the Truth Movement. Several share the opinion that something is wrong with the official version.

I highly doubt that it was al-Qaeda. I think there are many financial aspects behind it, such as the US wanting to invade Afghanistan and then Iraq.

Have you heard about alternative explanations to the terror attacks? Who were behind them and so on?

It could be anyone, from the US government to some other regime … in some other part of the world.

I'm happy that so many have stopped to see what we’re about. There is very specific evidence that 9/11 was some sort of inside job. This can be seen for example in the analyses of dust from the WTC. Residue of explosives can be found in it.

At the same time on Ground Zero on the lower part of Manhattan. A big crowd of supporters of the Truth Movement have gathered. They have travelled from all over the US and they demand to know what really happened here on the morning of 9/11.

The Truth Movement is strong in NYC. A poll shows that half of the New Yorkers believe the government had foreknowledge about the attacks.

9/11, 2001. It’s 8.46AM when American Airlines Flight 11 hits the north tower of the WTC. 17 minutes later United Airlines Flight 175 hits the south tower.

34 minutes later the Pentagon is hit by a Boeing 757.
Almost 30 minutes later United Airlines Flight 93 crashes into a field in Pennsylvania.

Both the Twin Towers collapse. 2,986 people die in these four events, immediately labelled “terror attacks”.

Two days later the US government points out its enemies: Osama bin Laden and 19 airplane hijackers linked to the terror network al-Qaeda.

According to the Truth Movement this is incorrect. Al-Qaeda is not responsible for the attacks. Instead the US government staged them.

The purpose was to legitimize the war against terrorism. The arguments are gathered in the documentary Loose Change. It’s been available for free on the Internet since 2005. According to its originators it has been clicked around 155 million times.

(PART 2)
Loose Change lists contradictions in the official investigation and presents its own theories. Like the lack of clear images of the Pentagon plane crash despite numerous surveillance cameras. That Osama bin Laden is not specifically wanted by the FBI for the attacks on 9/11, only for other terror crimes in Africa. Vice president Dick Cheney personally prevented military aircrafts from intercepting the hijacked airplane heading towards the Pentagon. This claim is based on a testimonial from the official hearings. The minister of Communications of the Bush administration describes a conversation between vice president Cheney and another member of the government staff before the crash.

Loose Change claims the Twin Towers were rigged with explosives and did not collapse due to the fires after the airplane crashes. The way the towers fell is claimed as evidence. The freefall speed collapses are said to be impossible unless one blasts all the bearing structures at the same time.

But Loose Change mainly focuses on the WTC Building 7. In the afternoon of 9/11, almost seven hours after the collapses of the Twin Towers, this 47-storey building also collapsed. It hadn’t hit by an airplane. In the government investigation there was no explanation of the collapse of Building 7. Loose Change presents one. It was a controlled demolition. Only explosives can cause this kind of collapse. They compare it with other controlled demolitions.

Who is behind the message of the Truth Movement? We ask David Aaronovitch, a political columnist for the British newspaper The Times. He has studied the Truth Movement and Loose Change and he sees great risks.

Who are behind Loose Change and the Truth Movement? We decide to go to the US to find the brains behind the worldwide conspiracy theory. The Truth Movement is organizing an annual film festival in California. It’s held on the anniversary of 9/11. Like many supporters we go to Oakland, close to San Francisco. It’s the premiere of a new version of Loose Change and among the visitors we find Dylan Avery, the man behind Loose Change.

Avery cut the first version of the film at home in his basement. The budget was 2,000 USD. When it was released on the Internet in 2005 he quickly attained a leading position in the Truth Movement. According to Avery’s PR firm, Loose Change has been clicked 155 million times on the Internet.

He is now 25 years old and releasing a new version of Loose Change. The new film will be launched in cinemas and on TV worldwide. The budget is now 3,5 million USD but the message is the same. 9/11 was an attack staged by the US against its own people.

At the film festival we also find 69-year-old David Ray Griffin, the unofficial leader of the Truth Movement.

The following morning we meet him in the home of a supporter of the Truth Movement where he is staying during the film festival.
Griffin is a retired professor of Theology. Nowadays he only focuses on 9/11 and in five years he’s written nine books about the attacks.

Griffin knows explosives made the WTC collapse. How? What does he base this on? We find the answers in Malmö.

Central Malmö on May 25 of this year. Despite the warm evening a curious audience gather in a worn out conference room. Niels Harrit, a chemist at the university of Copenhagen, is about to lecture for the first time in Sweden and there aren’t enough seats for everyone.

Look at the media attention we’re getting. For the first time the Swedish mainstream media is noticing us. You can see for yourselves, over there.

Earlier in the day we met up with Niels Harrit at his work in Copenhagen. He shows us bags with dust residues from the collapses of the WTC. He has analysed the dust with advanced microscopes and claims it shows residues of unreacted nanothermite, a very unusual and advanced explosive.

(PART 3)
Nanothermite is a broad denomination for energetic material used for lots of things. It produces heat. It can be used as an explosive. It can also be used as rocket fuel. It’s the explosive of the future and it’s called “smaller, cheaper and nastier”. It is undoubtedly the explosive of the future.

-But is it completely scientifically proven that this was involved in the demolition of the WTC?

-In the dust. Yes. And it shouldn’t be there.

The result of Niels Harrit’s study was published in the scientific Internet review The Open Chemical Physics Journal. Everything published in the review is peer-reviewed and approved by experts. We call Professor Marie-Paule Pileni, who is said to have peer-reviewed and approved Niels Harrit’s article. But Pileni says this is wrong. She claims never to have seen the article before it was published.

Pileni is an expert of nanomaterials, and after having read Niels Harrit’s article she disapproves of its content.

We contact the University of Copenhagen. How does Niels Harrit’s boss look upon the sensational discovery?

-The analysis might be correct but with such a controversial discovery we need more than one article to prove it.

-Do you support the result of his research?

-We support the conduct of original and free research. But the content of the article and his conclusions are his own.

We sent the article to two leading experts on explosives. They didn’t want to be interviewed, worried about becoming enemies of the Truth Movement. But in written analyses they state:

“With the low density of nanothermite several office spaces would have had to be completely filled with it. How was this brought in unnoticed?”

“Residue of nanothermite would be found wherever there’s concrete and steel. The dust from concrete and steel contains the same substance as thermite.”

Niels Harrit stands behind his discovery. The images of the collapsing WTC7 shows that it’s a controlled demolition with rigged explosives. And the microscope images have convinced him that nanothermite was used. Harrit has also estimated the quantity of nanothermite used.

-We would accept a claim of 200 tons. We don’t know, but it’s a lot.

-Huge quantities?

-Huge quantities. Yes.

-Is it possible to get that much and how was it brought in and rigged without anyone noticing?

-Who would have noticed?

-The people working there ...

-50,000 people worked in WTC and they got deliveries every day. You wouldn’t label it “explosives to tear down WTC”. You would just bring it in.

We return to Malmö. After two hours in front of an enthusiastic audience Niels Harrit’s lecture has come to an end.

What should one think about the Truth Movement?

How has Loose Change affected the millions of viewers on the Internet?

David Aaronovitch claims the Truth Movement has no evidence though Loose Change has convinced many young people in the entire world.

We know one thing. According to our poll, one out of five young Swedes support the theory. Hence 300,000 Swedes support the claim that the US government was involved in 9/11 attacks.

Internet has created a great new truth revolution where all the information is available. The young have encountered this and many of them are very positive.

Loose Change will be broadcast on TV4 Fakta tonight at 8.

Can they become dangerous? Yes, possibly, if they reach political leaders in central positions who start believing in them and make decisions based on views that might be incorrect. That would be very dangerous.
